This is a subject that recently I have had a look into. Personally I don’t know a lot but thought I would write a little about it.
I’m a music fan and love attending concerts-what music fan doesn’t? It’s a nice idea to see that options have been added to purchase a meet n greet option sometimes known as V.I.P packages. Some in my opinion are priced at an extremely high price allowing fans unable to afford the added package. Most people who go of course would love to meet the performers I’m sure. Yet it’s something we cannot afford nor is it on our priority lists, however it’s something most would like to experience.
I wish I could afford the meet n greet prices as to meet the bands or singers are a very small chance. For a start prices are just way too high. Yet even if I could save enough for the meet n greet package I would need double the price for my career to accompany me. If were not for my disability and I were able bodied I would have more of chance to afford the package. There without a doubt with people in harder experiences than myself who will agree.
At my most recent concert which was the Jacksons many people were speaking about this subjects and all agreed about the prices. They are unaffordable for the working man. Some however price wise a cheaper than others.
Wouldn’t it be good if the package prices were a lot cheaper than they currently are? Or I am sure there could be many more solutions to this controversial subject. Yes, I know it’s not an extreme subject it’s just something I wondered about. If anybody has solutions or ideas about this I would love to hear of them. I’m just very curious about it.
Thank-you all for reading!
Designing A Cake in Honour Of The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge For My School Garden Party 2011
Published April 15, 2013 by BoabbyJaneAs I’m sure many will recall the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middle back in 2011. It was a very exciting event that I am pleased to have witnessed unfortunately not in person but on television.
The day before the bank holiday in honour of the exciting event my school held a garden party for the pupils and parents to celebrate. It was a great event, we had some lovely treats and fun outside!
I was given a task from the staff. On the morning my head teacher came through to the classroom and asked to see me. I look rather worried hoping that I hadn’t done anything wrong because I could not recall doing anything. So I went along the corridor once I had finished what I was doing as asked.
When I appeared at the office door the school’s classroom assistant invited me inside and appeared with a cake and icing pens much to my surprise. I was asked to decorate at cake in honour of the Royal Wedding. That was a real treat and I’m delighted they asked me to do this for the school. The only downside is I wished I had a picture of the cake. However I do have the cakes image in my memory.
I decorated with Kate and William written neatly on it. There was also a flower iced on it. Simple was what I thought would look best on it. So that is how I decorated.
We all ate the two cakes in the afternoon; one designed by myself. The other by a younger pupil. It was a lovely afternoon which I hope to remember vividly in mind! The sun shone and made it a beautiful day at a country school. We had bunting around the gates and made it really special! I love these memories- they are just so fabulous!
Digital Placement-Young Scot-Why I Would Love This Opportunity
Published April 7, 2013 by BoabbyJaneOnce Upon A Time…. I Met The Jonas Brothers 2009
Published March 24, 2013 by BoabbyJaneOnce Upon A Time……I Met The Jonas Brothers, is about how I was lucky enough to meet popular disney boy band The Jonas Brothers back in May 2009. It feels like a lifetime ago since I met the brothers so I though using once upon a time would express how unreal if felt. I hope you enjoy this real story.
In May 2009 I was down in London to undergo a follow up surgery for my frame at Great Ormond Street Hospital. My mum, Grandmother and little sister accompanied me. Mum had looked online as she always does to see if any special events were happening whilst we would be there. My mum and gran always liked to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for us all. Turns out the popular boy band the Jonas Brothers would be in London to promote their new movie Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience. There would be a premiere in Leicester Square the night before my surgery.
So we decided to go along and try catch a glimpse of any celebrities. We knew the time so we went along at the time stated. My mum and gran asked someone where the best place to stand would be to try catch a glimpse of them. The man told us that they had literally just left. He must have seen my sister and i’s disappointed faces. Quietly he told our mum where they would be staying and that they had went back for a short while before they would leave again for dinner.
We found our way to the hotel which had many fans also waiting outside. My gran disappeared from our side and went and spoke to the hotel guard and explained the situation about my surgery etc. He told me gran that he was very sorry but he was not allowed to speak with them but if we waited we might catch a glimpse.
We made friends with a few girls who were lovely. One I still keep in close contact with and it funny how she has such similar ambitions as myself. Anyway, they took my mums phone number and one would go to the other side of the building to see if they would be coming out the other side as they had two cars at both sides of the building. A while was spent walking from side to side of the building trying to work out what side they would come out of. However it was eventually discovered that the boys were leaving from the front door.
When they exited the building the boys came out and got into their car signing a few autographs. Our friends tried to help us get as close to the front as possible. Fans were kind and tried to help too. But it’s as push when people are excited!
Anyway Rob the bodyguard had been speaking to the doorman who my gran spoke to. He came walking our way and told my sister and I to follow him. My mum came with us as he got the Jonas brothers back out of their car to meet us!!! That was so kind of both Rob and the doorman. The boys signed us some autographs and stood for some photos with us. They were all very sweet and gentle.
I was asked by one of the girls who were there afterwards what they had said to me. To be honest I really could not remember everything they said. But they were just extra lovely and I’m so pleased to have been able to have met them!
I owe a lot of thanks to Rob, the doorman and the Jonas brothers!
But I also owe many thank yous to the man at Leicester Square who if we had not spoken to we would never have got there in the first place.
Most of all a huge thanks to the lovely girls I met there! They really helped us that night and I am so pleased to have met them! The lovely girls really helped cheer me up on what potentially could have been a hard night for me worrying about the next day, so than
Photographs that I Have Taken That I’m Extremely Proud Of
Published March 23, 2013 by BoabbyJaneThis Photo I took roughly a year ago in one of my local parks. I live how it gives a lace effect with the branches. Natural beauty is how I could sum it up.
This photograph was taken in my Grandad’s garden. Ever since I was little I have spent hours in his garden and I still love it today. During the summer of last year I took this photo and I think it has turned out very well. It will always remind me of my grandad’s garden-colourful and my of my childhood.
A photograph taken of the skyline whilst I sat in one of the restaurants in Edinburgh’s GrassMarket. I loved how this turned out
I took this photo in December of last year. The sun was setting and I love how the light shone through the trees over the peaceful river.
I hope you like my photographs that I work hard to take. I’m not professional or anything I just do it for a hobby and enjoy doing it. One day I would maybe like to do it professional if for whatever reason I cannot do journalism and media. I do hope that you enjoy my photos and I hope to post a few more in future.

Authors That I Have Met
Published March 15, 2013 by BoabbyJaneIn life I have only met a few authors, however being such a bookworm more so now than ever, I would like to meet more authors than I have already. In the following I will talk a little about meeting each author.
Jill Dow
Jill Dow is a Scottish children’s author/illustrator. I met her probably when I was about five (5) years old. My primary one class were taken along to our local library where we met Jill who read one of her stories to us. Her illustrations were very lovely and very child friendly. We then had an art session with, being so long ago I can’t remember the exact details but we tried out using crayons and I think it was using pens over them. Which if I remember was fascinating for me as a child who loved art and drawing. Ever since it was a skill that I have used throughout the past years in art.
Tony Bonning
Tony Bonning is another Scottish author who writes children’s books. They are based on myths, Scots etc. so the books are quite interesting and I enjoyed listening to his stories as most children did. He visited my second primary school that I went to around twice when I was there. The children including me all thoroughly enjoyed his visits as he did a range of great activities with us. He read to us, he did some writing activities with us and he also sang songs to us with the guitar he brought. We all loved it and I think will remember the fun we had for ever. Tony is such a great author and just has that talent on knowing how to catch children’s attentions.
Cathy Cassidy
From posts you will gather I am a big Cathy Cassidy fan. I love her fabulous quirky teenage books. What girl doesn’t? Personally I have met Cathy quite a few times as she visits the area I live in regularly for book signings etc. Cathy is one of the most sweetest people that I have ever met. She is always a true joy to meet and I love attending her events. The events are like acting out her books in real life. Everything at the events are based around the themes of her books. Girls just love meeting Cathy, she always makes time to speak with you and have a photo with you which people are happy about as they know Cathy will spend that time with them too. Seriously, if you get that chance to meet Cathy take it! You won’t be disappointed in fact you will be VERY impressed!
Jacqueline Wilson
I have met popular author Jacqueline Wilson once, with one of my closest friends. We had to travel to Kilsyth, Scotland to meet her a few years back. It was an exciting journey for us both as we would be meeting one of our favourite authors, Jacqueline Wilson. As most people will know Jacqueline Wilson is a popular British author. Her most famous book is The Story Of Tracy Beaker, which was made in to the CBBC TV series. The event was very busy as there were many fans there to meet Jacqueline. We listed to her talk and then had to wait in a long line to meet her and have our books signed. Only one book per person was the limit to the signing, so my friend and I each had our copy of her newest book at the time, Little Darlings signed. I still after about four years I think have the book. When I think about it, I can’t believe I how long ago that was. But I’m pleased to say that I have met Jacqueline Wilson, a dream of many book fans!
Stereotypical Teenage Magazines
Published March 11, 2013 by BoabbyJaneTeenagers like magazines don’t they? I have to say I quite enjoy a magazine now and then too. My biggest issue with teenage magazines are they are written for a stereotypical teenager. Of course there is nothing wrong with that. However, I would like to see magazines like many other things to be catered for a range of people.
What people seem to forget is that not all teenagers are the same. There are many like myself who dare to be different and have a different taste in many things. I mean not all teenagers want to follow the latest trends some just want to wear things that are completely different. Because magazines talk of the latest trends I think teenagers feel like they have to copy everyone else or they could be made fun of. That really devestates me as I think everyone should be themselves and not feel threatened to be someone that they are not. I want to help people think differently, and I know that it will be very hard but if I start by writing about it can lead to other things on my mission.
I also want to encourage teenagers to like and enjoy what they choose to like. It must feel horrible to pretend that you like a particular thing because everyone else “likes” it. Personally I have felt that feeling and really hated it, I learned over time to stop following trends and do my own thing. Through that I have also learned who my real friends are because they like me for me and not because I like them have felt pressurised by others and the media. I just dont think magazines should be written for a particular stereotype. I think it should be open for all to feel comfortable with. One day in my life I hope to feel proud and feel that I achieved my aim. To achieve it I need the help of my readers. Share this post to as many people as possible, people who may be able to help me on my quest.
The Day Amanda Holden Came To Visit At Hospital
Published March 7, 2013 by BoabbyJaneAfter my last lot of surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital over a year and a half ago I had to go back to hospital for a weeks worth of physiotherapy. On my first day, I had to spend the Monday in my ward to have my plaster cast removed and all the necessary procedures followed. I was nervous about being in hospital so the ward’s play leader was really nice and chatted to me as she knew me from previous hospital stays. She hinted to me that Amanda Holden may be coming to visit that day. That helped me get through day, it really did.
Late afternoon hit and it was official Amanda Holden was coming to visit the hospital! Everyone was rather excited. In hospital you only get around half an hours notice that a celebrity is officially coming to visit so it was not too long a wait.
When she came she was wearing a 1950s styled dress coloured black, covered in red polka dots-a style really up my street! She had baked cakes for the children to raise money for the hospital. Which was really sweet, her friend baker, Eric Landlard hand lend her hand to help with the baking. At the time I never knew who Eric Landlard was but I became very into baking and discovered that was who had helped Amanda.
Amanda was lovely and so friendly! She came and chatted with each child and gave us each a cupcake. There were photographers and camera man with her for the media side of things who had also came along. It just so happened that I was in a few papers with Amanda and a magazine too! Every girls dream come true!
The cakes were absolutely lovely. Very tasty and gorgeous to look at. They were almost too pretty to eat. But really? Who can resist a cupcake? Not me!
Amanda kindly signed my autograph book which I carry around everywhere with me in hope that I may bump into someone famous. Which I have seen a few recognisable people in the streets of Glasgow but regretted not having my autograph book with me. So I have now stopped my regrets by remembering.
It was a really nice treat as that week I would turn 13 years old. I was absolutely devastated that I would have to spend a special birthday in hospital but meeting Amanda made up for it and the cupcake was like a birthday cake from Amanda herself.
A Dream Come True (The Jacksons Unity Tour Hits Glasgow!)
Published March 4, 2013 by BoabbyJane28th February 2013, I saw one of my favourite bands ever in concert at the Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow, Scotland. That was in fact the one and the only The Jacksons. They were absolutely amazing and I’m so pleased to have seen them live! It was one of those moments on my life that I have felt starstruck- I have spent so much time listening to their music and watching footage of them that it was so strange to see them up close in person.
The Scottish crowd for a start were great! It was great to stand in the queue waiting to get seated whilst listening to people’s experiences about The Jacksons. I had some good conversations with other fans, which was really nice as I don’t know any other fans to be quite honest. Main reason is I have probably not came across them in my area yet, hopefully I will however.
When I arrived I saw the merchandise stall an right there were the Unity Tour Books. Some that could be purchased were signed by The Jacksons themselves. So me being me decided to buy one, as I knew I would later regret it. Which of course I would regret.
Fans who were there for the doors opening had to wait roughly about 2 hours and 30 minutes before the Jacksons came on stage. It was really worth the wait though and we were entertained for a little while by the lead singer of FiveStar, Denise Pearson as a support act.
When The Jacksons came on stage it was absolutely amazing! A dream of a fan such as myself. I had wanted to see Michael in concert but unfortunately I have never had the chance. However The Jacksons themselves were just as good as I could imagine.
They started with Can You Feel It. A great catchy upbeat song to start with. Everything from how they stand frozen for a few moments and slowly remove there glasses, it’s just amazing! Blame It On The Boogie then came on, another great hit. A favourite of mine!
One of the Scottish show highlights were Jermaine appearing wearing a traditional Scottish kilt. That was really special. I read on an article online that he purchased it from Slanj Kilts. My mum and I actually saw the two men who own the shop and we later wondered if they had something to do with the kilt, as they were wearing tartan trousers. Turned out Jermaine had invited them along to the show whilst at the shop. I loved the idea that Jermaine decided to wear a kilt and the colour scheme really suited him.
The performance itself was immense. Everything I would expect from The Jacksons. They are still blessed with strong vocals and great dancing skills.
They pay a lovely tribute to Michael by performing his songs, but performing Gone To Soon is evidently one that catches everyone’s emotions. I had a lump in my throat. Audience members were cheering for Michael and shouting “we love you Michael”. That certainly was true, it was so sweet to be a part of.
Jermaine played a few songs from his solo career. I had heard the songs a handful of times and did not know them really well. However, I really enjoyed. So much, that I may even purchase one go Jermaine’s albums. He sang Dynamite and When The Rain Begins To Fall. Both really catchy upbeat songs. Songs that I actually really enjoyed!
There was a lot of people dancing around the auditorium and it was pretty fabulous. What atmosphere I experienced! Everyone was there for a real good time! That was evident! The audience was a good size to really enjoy.
I went I thriller live the musical a few years ago and I could see where the musical takes inspiration from. They used parts of the Jackson’s show. Like where the audience are split into to sections and are lead by a jackson brother to sing a particular part of a song. That was great even better than the musical especially because it was the real thing!
The brothers themselves seem like really down to earth guys. Some day I would love to meet them and maybe even interview them for my blog etc. Anyone I have heard who have met them said they are such friendly. Examples I have heard are “it’s said you should never meet your heroes but The Jacksons won’t disappoint you!”. They must be really nice then. So maybe one day I would love to have the chance of meeting them!
As they say themselves that it’s a jackson party. That it certainly was! I really enjoy it and I hope to experience there show one day again in future! They were everything I expected in fact they were better! What a fabulous show! Thank-you mum for treating me as a Christmas gift!
